"T.A. Cook has been supporting an international chemical company throughout a large transformation program. Working collaboratively with the client, our team is engaged to ensure on-time and in-full delivery of strategic initiatives to maintain the company’s competitive edge.

 

The transformation program is a truly global initiative. The team encompasses people from all over the world with different backgrounds and cultures. Leveraging this global set up, some labor-intensive activities had been moved off-shore.

However, due to the COVID-19 situation and the way in which governments responded with lockdowns posed a serious threat to project execution performance. From one day to another, project members were not allowed to enter their offices anymore, bringing progress to a sudden halt. This created a serious risk of delay for the overall program.

Quickly, we supported the setup of a COVID-19 response team and developed together with the client important mitigation measures.

It was important to establish remote working guidelines, defining clear rules how to collaborate remotely. Also, virtual team events were conducted which helped to keep up team spirit to overcome social distancing. With all measures taken, feedback from team members is very positive and initial concerns regarding remote working productivity are alleviated.

Ensuring engagement of all parties helps to maintain momentum of the project and drive progress according to expectations. This keeps the impact of the pandemic to a minimum."

He holds a degree in business administration with a specialization in production management. After stops in London and Shanghai he now manages a long-term digitization program for a leading chemical company since 2017.
